Test possibilities

The heart of the Flex Power Grid Lab is formed by a four-quadrant (4Q) medium-voltage (MV) converter. This converter has a power level of 1 MVA, and is freely programmable with the so-called GridSim control panel, which is specially designed for the Flex Power Grid Lab. The converter can generate freely programmable static and dynamic grid phenomena:

Static phenomena

• Harmonic voltage distortion up to 2400 Hz (closed loop control upto 15th harmonic)

Dynamic phenomena

• Voltage fluctuations
• Power frequency variations (between DC and 75 Hz)
• Voltage dips and interruptions
• Zero and negative sequence variations
• Unbalance
