The heart of the Flex Power Grid Lab the Medium Voltage Converter reached the specified power level of 1 MVA. This milestone was witnessed by the Acceptance Committee of the Laboratory (ECN and the Technical Universities of Eindhoven and Delft).
Friday March 28, 2008 was planned for final acceptance tests upto 500 kVA. Erik de Jong (this time on behalf of KEMA) and Michael Otto (AIX Control Aachen) performed the Acceptance Tests. As performance was beyond expectations, at the end of the day the power level was increased over 1 MVA. This power was dissipated in the resistorbank (500 kW) and the reactor bank of the lab.
Upcoming tests will be focussed on PQ-effects of the MV converter on the 10kV grid and the acceptance of the newly ordered synchronisation functionality.
